I’m pretty sure we have all gone through a period when our self-esteem was at the lowest. That is, we constantly self-evaluate ourselves and put unnecessary pressure on ourselves. Most people are able to ‘come out’ of it with help or on their own while others are stuck and struggle with self-esteem and self-love daily. You might be thinking, is it that hard to love oneself? Believe me, it is so much more complicated than that! Unfortunately, we women find ourselves in this position most often. Why? You might ask. I think we care too much about what others think and we tend to over analyze things. My little confession is that I am one of those over analyzers, I tend to read meaning into every little thing that comes my way.  Over time, I have come to realize that it is draining, not worth my time and I have redirected my energy to myself and my family.

Honestly, if we can focus on ourselves and tune out the negatives then we will be one step closer to improved self-love and self-esteem. Agreed, women do have a lot going on from caring for the children, the household, and working; and all these affect us physically, mentally and emotionally.  Which is why it is important for us to focus on self and figure how to balance life, work, and social activities. There are many local activities we can engage in to relieve stress; such as volunteering, Zumba, yoga, and making a difference in your communities.

It is vital to emphasize the importance of being confident in one’s own worth or abilities; self-respect. Women are powerful! We are taking over the world! We are on earth for a reason, so we should explore those areas and make a positive mark in the world. We can do this by supporting and promoting ourselves so as to not leave anyone behind.
