Data supporting the need for a booster shot shows that at least after 6 months of fully vaccinated, protection against the COVID-19 virus may start to wear off over time. Meaning that the vaccine may be less effective in protecting against delta variant and other variants of concern. Thankfully, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently authorized booster shots of Comirnaty (Pfizer)’s vaccine and in the coming months Spikevax (Moderna) and Janssen booster shots are expected to be approved by the FDA. Please take the booster shot when it is your turn in order to reduce morbidity and mortality of COVID-19. Talk to your healthcare provider for questions/concerns you may have about the booster shots.
